Self-care is a concept that has exploded in popularity over the past few years, in large part because it gives us permission to do something that isn’t always so easy – put our own needs first.
Your dreams may include some idealized combination of herbal tea, journaling, aromatherapy, yoga, meditation, decluttering, and healthy eating. But the reality may end up looking more like five minutes of alone time in the bathroom with no children in sight, a large bag of dark chocolates, or an even larger glass of wine.
Self-care certainly appeals to us, but without a clear definition for what it is or what it could look like, most of us end up dreaming big and then settling for what we can get.
