Confessions of a Selfless Perfectionist
February 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In 2008, Becky Lindstrom began experiencing constant, generalized anxiety. A year and a half later with no clear way to treat it, she also developed depression. After hitting rock bottom she finally found the resources she needed to heal her mind and eventually went back to school to be become a UC Davis-certified life coach. Motivated by a desire to help her clients, many of whom also suffer due to stress and anxiety, she deeply reflected on her own experiences and was surprised to uncover the source of her struggle – selfless perfectionism.
- Are especially empathetic to the emotions and experiences of other people.
- Find it easy to put the needs of others ahead of their own.
- Hold themselves to very high expectations, often to the point of perfection.
- Have a tendency to be extremely self-critical when they don’t meet expectations.
If you identify with some or all of these traits, it’s likely that you also dislike conflict, have a hard time with uncertainty, and feel a strong desire to maintain control of the world around you. This class will help you discover that while empathy, natural selflessness, perfectionism, and self-criticism may feel like burdens, they are actually your greatest strengths! Come find out how to make this perspective shift for yourself, as well as better understand the selfless perfectionists in your life.
Wednesday night classes at the Center for Spiritual Growth are offered on a LOVE OFFERING basis. When asked how much people typically give, the answer is between $10-20.
